About Digita

Digita is a provider of digital infrastructure and services and the country’s largest independent owner of telecoms masts. As a network operator of wireless communications networks, Digita manages Finland’s terrestrial radio, TV and mobile TV networks. Digita’s aerial TV network has a coverage of 99.9%, reaching almost every Finn.

The Challenge

Digita has operations in several different business areas, and many of these businesses develop and offer cloud services in addition to the basic infrastructure. The challenge was that Digita’s cloud environments were not managed holistically, but had formed islands between which better coherence was needed.

There was also a need to create a shared understanding of these environments and their functionality across business units and to strengthen internal competencies across business boundaries.

Digita was looking for a strategic cloud partner that could provide end-to-end cloud management, security development and business synchronisation in a multi-vendor environment.

Our Solution

The development of cloud environments was an obvious solution due to the technical requirements of the services provided by Digita. Cloud2 was a natural choice as Digita’s cloud partner, as Cloud2 has been Digita’s cloud partner since 2019.

In 2021, Cloud2 set out to strengthen the cloud expertise of Digita’s own organisation and act as a versatile cloud services partner.

The management of Digita’s cloud environment started by building a continuously maintained cloud management model using Cloud2’s Governance as a Service. Automated Landing Zones were created on the public clouds used by Digita.

With Cloud2’s Managed Cloud service, Digita’s cloud environment was taken under Cloud2’s 24/7 monitoring and management. In autumn 2022, Digita also implemented Cloud2 Spotter, a cloud management tool that provides a clear view of the status, costs, security and CO2 emissions of Digita’s multicloud environment.

Results

Digita’s cloud environment has been built on a solid foundation and is well-managed, enabling the simultaneous promotion of cloud projects across multiple businesses.

In addition to optimising, modernising and developing business operations, Digita’s cloud migration has enabled the rapid innovation of new solutions. With Spotter, Digita can easily access data from its multi-cloud environment and monitor essential data such as costs and security compliance levels.
